Civil Appeals
Losing a civil case can mean a money judgment you can't afford, a business dispute decided against you, or an estate divided in a way that doesn't follow the will or the law. An appeal asks the Indiana Court of Appeals to decide whether the trial court applied the law correctly. It isn't a new trial, and the court won't hear new evidence, so the strength of an appeal depends on what is already in the trial record.
Anne handles appeals involving contract and business disputes, commercial cases, probate and estate matters, and other civil judgments. She starts by reading the record and identifying the issues with the best chance of success. Then she gives you a straightforward assessment of whether an appeal makes sense for you, including what it is likely to cost. If you won at trial and the other side has appealed, she can defend your judgment. If the Indiana Court of Appeals rules against you, she can evaluate whether to seek rehearing or ask the Indiana Supreme Court to accept transfer.
